Dirty Laundry
May 30-July 7, 2024
The Locker Room
373 S 1st Street
Brooklyn, NY
The Locker Room is pleased to present our "Dirty Laundry”, an exhibition of seven textile-based artists. Through their tapestries, crochets, rugs, and more, the show pulls on a thread that permeates the current art world. What lies behind the velvet curtain of those exorbitant and enigmatic valuations and of the lavish lifestyles of those who participate? What bubbles are being inflated besides those of the omnipresent Ruinart champagne? This exhibition takes a look at the many layers of both embezzlement and embroidery. As the art market falters slightly in recent history, perhaps more of this Dirty Laundry will begin to get aired out. However, maybe some tangles are best left unraveled–there’s an entire industry sitting on top of a complex and delicate web of lace.
